摘要

From the New Yorker, via National Review's "Planet Gore" blog, on charging the Tesla in the five minutes or so folks typically spend at the gas pump: The ballyhooed electric car "would require an 840-kW connection, which would drain the grid as much as a 100-unit apartment building does in the course of a day." Hey, I don't know about all that, but it's easy to see why coal should be pretty enthusiastic about the wild pitch for electric cars. The Tesla example is extreme, of course. It's unlikely many people expect to buy an electric car that could be charged as quickly as gas can be pumped into the tank of a conventional automobile.
