Responding to public criticism regarding its coal transportation contract with subsidiary TECO Transport, Tampa Electric has filed documents with the Florida Public Sendee Commission stating that its dealings with the waterbome carrier have saved its customers more than 500 million dollars. The filing responds to testimony filed by the Office of Public Counsel, the Florida Industrial Power Users Group, CSX Transportation and attorney Mike Twomey. The company's filing on May 4 addresses "erroneous assertions and unsubstantiated allegations of the witnesses presented in the intervenors' testimony."
