National sees new production set to help company reverse course financially

National Coal plans to expand production significantly through organic growth while keeping an eye open for potential acquisitions of strategic reserves. In its second quarter earnings report, National outlined its plans for opening new production facilities as well as reopening facilities that had been previously idled. By year-end 2011, the company hopes to add 5 million tons of production annually. The new production will come from: Crescent Valley (Alabama) -18,000 tons per month started in July 2008. Davis Creek (Alabama) - 10,000 tons per month starting in September 2008. Mine #14 (Tennessee) - 15,000 tons per month started in June 2008. Mine #17 (Tennessee) - 14,000 tons per month started in July 2008. Mine #5 (Tennessee) - 20,000 tons per month starting in October 2008.
