IPL's Sutherland Generating Station back online after historic Iowa floods

Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp., announced June 26 that Sutherland Generating Station Units 1, 2 and 3, located in Marshalltown, IA, are back online two weeks after the facility was intentionally taken offline due to flooding concerns in the community and along the Iowa River. The power plant's three units consist of approximately 144 megawatts. Storms and the subsequent flooding impacted approximately 2,600 customers in the Marshalltown area as the Iowa River crested approximately four feet above flood stage on June 10 and 13.
