Rio Tinto achieves 70-72 dollars/tonne thermal pricing, 115-130 dollars/tonne met pricing during most recent quarter

Rio Tinto noted in its latest earnings report that thermal coal contracts for the 2009 fiscal year (annual period beginning April 1) were settled in the 70-72 dollars/metric tonne range, a decrease of approximately 44 per cent on the record levels of the previous year. Coking coal contracts for FY 2009 were settled in the 115-130 dollars/tonne range, a decline of approximately 60 per cent on the record levels of the 2008/09 fiscal year.
