There is a lot more to Manjimup these days than spuds, cauliflowers and loggers. Since green policies saw the timber industry nosedive in 1999 and traditional agriculture began battling global markets, innovative projects have started springing up. Manjimup is already the site of a "black gold" crop -the European truffle fungus -and will soon host a green tea plantation. There is also a project under way that will purportedly become the world's biggest commercial organic plantation of ginkgo biloba.Ginkgo is a herbal stimulant gaining popularity in natural medicine and used in pharmaceutical supplements.
