The new energy white paper has been hailed as the biggest overhaul of the industry since it was privatised 20 years ago. The radical reforms are designed to transform the UK's energy infrastructure, create a "cleaner energy future" and reduce the UK's dependence on fossil fuels. The paper says the goals will be achieved through the development of a new generation of nuclear power stations and by expanding the renewable energy sector.
