'Disability' as defined in law is much more common than widely thought. Around one in five people have a disability or long-term health condition, probably giving them rights under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Getting disability equality right - hiring and keeping the best, being a flexible employer, understanding and being responsive to your customer base - is part of effective strategic management. To do this, a systems approach is needed. It isn't simply about responding to individual needs but about systematically identifying business opportunities and barriers to success.
