Focus on-WASTE MANAGEMENT

Controlling the amount of waste sent to landfill while simultaneously ensuring the quality of products made from recycled materials is a dual challenge which the waste management industry has long been in the process of tackling. The recent scare over ink-based toxins found in cardboard food packaging made from recyclables has also raised questions over the safety of recycled products, But, the response from both the waste management industry and packaging manufacturers has been rapid to ensure the quality of recycled products is maintained and public confidence is not jeopardised. While waste services providers have been working to improve the de-inking process, at the same time packaging manufacturers are under increased pressure to use only vegetable-based inks as opposed to the mineral-based alternative which triggered concerns.
