First company fined for corporate manslaughter

A Gloucester company has become the first firm convicted under corporate manslaughter legislation introduced in 2007. Alexander Wright, a geolo?gist, died in September 2008 when a 12ft-deep pit caved in while he took soil samples. It was found that the pit was not supported by timbers, which would have prevented the accident.
