The construction industry has thornyissues with quality. The sector's challenge is to form a cohesive unit from a disparate cross section of individuals and companies ranging from clients and designers through to construction management teams, right down to the subcontractors and their operatives. It then has to make them all believe in, and work towards, the mantra of total quality management (TQM). However, most project teams disband after less than two years, many even less than this, in what is generally a cost-driven industry. If you are a specialist subcontractor you may move between projects on a weekly basis and the opportunity to form any sort of lasting relationship that drives towards total quality then presents a real challenge. With this in mind I opened this book hoping for the silver bullet that the authors promised.
