Young people suffer from age discrimination at work more than older age groups, according to research by the insurer Royal & SunAlliance. Fourteen per cent of those under 25 years old surveyed felt discriminated against in the workplace due to their age and felt their progression had been hindered because they were perceived as being too young to take on extra responsibility. This compares to 12 per cent of those, over 45 years old, who felt discriminated against.
