As the decline of the UK manufacturing sector continues, so will a fall in the number of job opportunities. All areas of work are being affected from design to production and even jobs at the commercial end of the process. However; a trend is developing within the automotive sector (which is a leading force in UK manufacturing), for quality to be integrated with the whole manufacturing operation. Consequently new roles are emerging in this previously functional area. When a new product is introduced, quality specialists work with customers, designers and process development engineers to ensure the manufacturing process continues while retaining a link with the original concept and design.
