The spotlight for failings in project management often falls on IT projects, but a recent report from the Bourton Group shows that the performance and attitude of manufacturing industry falls well short of best practice, writes Ken Lane.For the past 11 years, Rugby-based management consultancy Bourton Group, has been producing an annual survey of trends in the UK's manufacturing industry In 1999 the survey looked at the management of innovation, drawing on the views of 317 UK managing directors and senior managers from across industry as well as international views from a further 85 executives in the US and Germany.
