Italian Bioindustry:a great potential we need everyone to be aware of

Thinking about biotechnology in Italy,a rather small,yet growing,science-based sector comes to mind,with a great potential but with major problems to access the market and as regards regulations over turning academic results into commercial products and entrepreneurial ideas.The sector counts about one hundred companies - two of which are stock exchange quoted:these companies are mostly Small and Medium Enterprises,involved in research and services.Italy counts also eight science parks,and many public and private research institutes.Like the international biotech sector,Italian biotech is mainly focused on red applications,with a slight new trend in the white and green biotech sectors.
