Accommodation of Skewed Distributions in SPC

Standard statistical process control (SPC) charts for variables data are based on the assumption that the distribution of measurements is normal. When sample sizes greater than one are used these charts are insensitive to the types of nonnormality commonly encountered, however, when individuals charts are necessary the traditional methods are inadequate.
