Consumers used to expect frozen pizza to be, well.. .round, covered with cheese, sauce and perhaps other toppings, and ready when they wanted a quick meal or snack. While the eating occasions have remained the same, the shape of pizza inside and out is anything but the same. Indeed, square-shaped slices are increasingly served up - both from neighborhood pizzerias and from retail freezer cases. This magazine's review of the state of the frozen pizza sector reveals that size and shape do matter in the USA's nearly 3 billion dollar retail industry.
