Recycled board gains partial price increases

Recycled paperboard prices moved up in January as partial implementation was reported for increases in coated and uncoated recycled board (CRB and URB), according to contacts. Producers of coated unbleached kraft (CUK) board, meanwhile, pushed through the remainder of an increase effective since last month. Recycled board producers were being driven by volatile and high recovered paper costs yet meeting up with seasonally weaker demand, and uncertainty among carton makers and other buyers.
