Sonoco, Caraustar set fuel cost surcharges on paperboard shipments

As crude oil and fuel prices rise, Sonoco and Caraustar this week announced new diesel cost surcharges on recycled paper-board products effective next month. Sonoco will implement a surcharge on shipments of its paper-based tubes and cores beginning Apr. 4. The fee is a direct result of escalating diesel costs, which have increased more than 40% over the past 12 months, the company said.
