Dramatically changed US recovered paper trade flow is moving the US market closer to an export-dominated one for the first time ever - with exports' share of US demand at 42% so far this year and China's No. 1 share at a high of 28%, from 1.7% 15 years ago. "I'm surprised we are not at 50%+ exports already," said an independent supplier in the East who sells domestically and exports. "Long-term trends of lack of paper and board capacity here, as well as supply decline push product overseas."
