Temple-Inland (TIN) is moving ahead with the second phase of its $250 million four-year box plant restructuring program announced early last year.The company on Nov. 19 shut down a box plant in Scranton, PA, resulting in the loss of 19 positions. The plant, which has an 87 in. corrugator producing E and F flute, reportedly employed as many as 100 workers in the late 1980s, according to a local news report. TIN in the second quarter last year closed plants in Evansville, IN, and Phoenix, AZ. The company said it would close 12 of its roughly 60 existing plants in the latest program.
