IP/Temple-Inland deal ranks containerboard high in consolidation

If International Paper's (IP) acquisition of Temple-Inland is successful, the North American containerboard sector -- the largest paper-board segment in the USA --would become the third most consolidated.IP with Temple-Inland would manage 37% of containerboard capacity with a No. 1 share, and the four largest producers, including RockTenn, Georgia-Pacific (G-P), and Packaging Corp of America, would combined operate 73% of the sector's 38-million-tons/yr of capacity.
