Caraustar, Sonoco announce $40/ton recycled paperboard hikes, blaming higher price of OCC and other input costs

Two of North America's largest recycled paperboard producers, Caraustar and Sonoco, told customers this week that the price of recycled paperboard grades would increase $40/ton in the last week of August. As of Friday, at least one other North American producer was "evaluating market options," according to sources. The increase is the first for recycled paperboard since July 2008.
