NewPage to close Kimberly coated paper mill this month,removing 500,000 tons/yr of CFS,mechanical grade output

Responding to the rapidly deteriorating market for coated printing and writing papers in the USA,NewPage this week said it plans to shut its large coated freesheet(CFS)mill at Kimberly,WI,at the end of the month.In closing the former Stora Enso North America mill,NewPage,the largest coated printing and writing papermaker in North America,cited reduced demand due to a reduction in print advertising,and higher input costs for raw materials and transportation driven by oil and natural gas prices.
