Second large pulp mill on the docket for Uruguay, with a cost of 4 billion

Uruguay's president said this week that Portugal's Portucel Soporcel will invest up to 4 billion for building a greenfield pulp and paper mill in the country, press reports said. Portucel in late August said it planned to establish plantations and build a 1.3 million tonnes/yr pulp mill in Uruguay, potentially with a printing and writing paper machine. The company also said at the time it had an agreement with authorities to construct a new pulp mill in Mozambique.
