Fraser to expand Katahdin's onsite pulping operations;continues work on buyout

Fraser Papers has been negotiating for full ownership of Katahdin Paper's Maine facilities,and a special committee set up to consider the purchase has toured the mills and met three times,the company said during an earnings call last week.Katahdin Paper is owned by investment management company Brookfield Asset Management,formerly Brascan Corp.,which owns 45% of Fraser Papers.Fraser Papers also has a small,indirect equity interest in Katahdin,contacts said.
