CUK and recycled boxboard output up in January,SBS flat

Total U.S.boxboard production was flat in January at 1.29 million tons compared with the same month in 2005,according to the latest statistics from the American Forest & Paper Assn.Unbleached kraft and recycled boxboard output grew,but solid bleached boxboard production was flat compared to a year ago levels.SBS production,including folding carton,food service,and milk carton grades,was flat in January at 481,700 tons compared with a year ago levels.But domestic production of SBS for folding carton grades decreased 1.6% in January from a year ago,while output for milk carton and cup stock grades jumped 19.0% and 3.3%,respectively,from the same month in 2004.
