Five Texas/Louisiana container-board mills take the hardest hit from Rita,losing production that totals 45,000 tons

The second of two tremendous hurricanes to hit the Gulf Coast area in the last month,Hurricane Rita,took a toll on five containerboard mills,forcing the mills to shut and lose 45,000 tons of capacity in September or 1.6% of estimated U.S.containerboard production for the month.The total loss of paper and board production caused by Rita was an estimated 70,587 tons at five containerboard mills and one SBS mill-representing 1% of total average U.S.paper and board production in a month,according to a Pulp & Paper Week estimate.
