US 3Q pulp and paper exports/imports steady; surplus hits $4.7 billion

The US worldwide trade in pulp and paper mostly held stable from the second quarter through the third quarter this year with year-to-date export volumes through the end of September up 11.8% from the same period in 2010 and value 12% higher, according to annualized US Census Bureau data compiled by the American Forest & Paper Assn. Total year-to-date global imports to the US at the end of September were unchanged with value up 5.6%.
