OCC exported to China falls slightly again; US traders pitching for rise soon on the material, as well as for OP

While pricing for US exported old corrugated containers (OCC) fell off slightly again in the last week, several traders in California and New York-New Jersey anticipated higher pricing was on the horizon for OCC and office paper (OP)."We expect China to restart OCC buying shortly and prices to rise," said an active exporter to Asia in the New York-New Jersey area. "There is still a shortage of OCC, and as we understand it, more US containerboard has been exported [US linerboard exports were up 27% in March vs March 2010] due to the weak dollar. Those tons will not see the recycling stream, reducing supply even further."
