MWV-Cenveo transaction delayed until at least Feb. 1

A planned sale of MeadWestvaco's envelope business unit to Cenveo was delayed last month until at least Feb. 1, local reports said. A MeadWestvaco (MWV) official said regulators needed more review time. Originally, the deal was to close by the end of December. With 910 employees, the MWV envelope unit operates four print centers, four sales offices, and is headquartered in Springfield, MA. The unit makes more than 25 billion envelopes per year in the about $3.7 billion envelope industry and includes its Columbian envelope brand. The official said labor agreements for the unit's workers were to stay in place under Cenveo.
