Georgia-Pacific (G-P) reached a definitive agreement to buy Parsons & Whittemore's (P&W) two market pulp mills at Perdue Hill, AL, in a major acquisition that launches the firm to the top of the North American market pulp and fluff pulp capacity ladders.P&W assets would increase G-P's market pulp capacity by 930,000 tonnes/yr, making the combined firm the largest producer in North America, and eclipsing longtime leader Weyerhaeuser as the world's biggest maker of fluff pulp.
