Canadian pulp and paper industry earns small profit in 3Q; in the black for a second consecutive quarter

Canadian pulp and paper companies turned in their second consecutive quarter of profitable operation during 2010's third period, aided by generally higher pricing and by volumes that improved for most grades. With costs for many inputs trending up and the loonie a continuing headache for many exporters, average margins in the quarter weren't high ~ but they were better than in the second quarter, and an enormous improvement over what the same companies were suffering through just a year ago.
