Hardwood, softwood market pulp price up $30/tonne; talk is already circulating about an increase in March

North American market pulp prices rose $30/tonne in key softwood and hardwood kraft grades this month, continuing a nine-month run, due to steady US demand and supply disruptions from poor weather that led more integrated papermakers to compete for supplies. Northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) effective list prices rose to $880/tonne, up $30/ tonne, and southern bleached softwood kraft (SBSK) hit $830/tonne, contacts told PPI Pulp & Paper Week.
