Producers line up behind new $50/tonne increases slated for May and June

Producers that manage the majority of the newsprint capacity in North America announced $50/tonne second quarter price increases in quick succession this week. Among them are AbitibiBowater, White Birch and its subsidiary SP Newsprint, Tembec, Catalyst, Norpac, and Blue Heron. As of late yesterday customer sources said they had not seen anything from Kruger, but did not doubt the Canadian producer would match its competitors.
