Weyco moves closer to REIT, possibly next year

Weyerhaeuser made its strongest move to a REIT, which it has been considering for more than two years, and could complete the change in 2010. The company's board approved the effort this week. Under a REIT, Weyco's corporate tax rate drops to zero from about 35% as the firm distributes roughly 90% of profits to shareholders.
