Supreme Court favors G-P forest roads position

The US Supreme Court overturned a lower court's decision and ruled in favor of Georgia-Pacific (G-P), allowing forest road operators to not have to secure Clean Water Act discharge permits for rainwater runoff as industrial users must do. "Today's decision helps protect jobs and ensures that regulating forest roads through state forestry best management practices continues as the most environmentally responsible way to oversee management of the nation's forest roads," said G-P Sr VP of sourcing and fiber supply Mike Adams, in a release on Mar. 20.
