China takes dispute with the USA on coated paper import duties to the WTO

China's Ministry of Commerce lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) alleging that US antidumping investigations involving 13 Chinese products — including coated paper — used improper methodologies that mistakenly suggested Chinese products were dumped in the USA, or exaggerated the impact of the Chinese shipments. Antidumping and countervailing duties on US coated paper imports from China were approved by the International Trade Commission (ITC) in November 2010. Asia Pulp & Paper China and Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings products were assessed 7.6% antidumping duties and 17.64% countervailing duties, while Sun Paper and other Chinese producers were hit with a 135.83% antidumping duty and 178.03% countervailing duty.
