NBSK $30 increase in USA delayed for a month after West Fraser targets April and Domtar reverses course

A S30/tonne March price increase proposal on benchmark northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) that Domtar first announced to North American customers on Feb. 26 seemed tenuous at best, and it toppled less than a week later after several major competitors opted to instead lift US NBSK prices in April. This week the initiative ended as Domtar conceded to customers who said they wouldn't pay a dollar more this month, and the firm informed customers on Mar. 5 that it would delay implementing its $930/tonne list price until April, contacts told PPI Pulp & Paper Week.
