Resolute sets $30-40 July hikes on SC, CM; buyers seek to cap 2013 increase

North American producers pushing for July price hikes on coated mechanical (CM) and supercalendered papers (SC) were undoubtedly relieved when Resolute Forest Products announced $30-40/ton increases on its SC and CM paper, effective July 1. Resolute is North America's third-largest CM producer by capacity with a 16.4% share, behind NewPage's 30.9% and Verso's 20.0%, according to RISI's most recent North American Graphic Paper Capacity Report.
