February $50/ton price increase faces uncertainty

Most US kraft paper producers announced $50/ton price increases for February, but it remains to be seen whether producers will be able to implement the increase so early in the year when the market is still seasonally slow, according to contacts. Among producers that have announced on natural multiwall and other kraft paper grades are the three main southern producers: Graphic Packaging (GPK), KapStone, and Georgia-Pacific, with effective dates ranging from Feb. 1 to Feb. 18.
