Exports to China off by 9% in 2010; OCC up $5

US recovered paper exports declined last year from its 2009 total, falling 1.5% to 18.77 million tonnes. Still, 2010's total was almost double the total 10 years ago. The reason for last year's decline, despite increases in tonnage to Mexico and India, was because US exports to China dropped 8.8% (vs 2009's total) and by 1.13 million to 11.69 million tonnes — which represented nearly 63% of the 2010 export total.
