Boise to buy honeycomb protective packing unit of Pregis for $125 million

Boise directors approved an agreement for the company to acquire the Hexacomb protective packaging business of Pregis Corp. for $125 million by yearend 2011 or early 2012, the companies announced this week. Hexacomb is the leader in kraft liner-board-based honeycomb protective packaging products and employs about 440 employees at 12 plants, nine in North America and three in Europe. Hexacomb's 2010 revenue was $102 million and the firm converted about 60,000 tons of container-board.
