Canadian forest products and pulp and paper companies saw a 17th straight unprofitable quarter in the fourth quarter because of a severe demand collapse,capacity reductions,and lower pricing.Ten publicly-traded Canadian pulp,paper,and forest products companies - excluding AbitibiBowater that has yet to report earnings - combined for a C70.4 million quarterly loss,nearly triple the revised C24 million loss in the third quarter,but improved compared with a C231.2 million loss in fourth quarter 2007,according to a PPI Pulp & Paper Week survey.
