SBS prices rise with solid demand; CRB levels decline

Fueled by strong product demand domestically and for exports, solid bleached sulfate (SBS) producers began implementing the majority, if not all, of a 40/ton folding carton grade increase announced for early June, sources said last week. Unlike previous increase attempts that faced strong opposition from converters unable to pass on the increase to their carton customers, resistance to this increase appeared to be minimal and most buyers acknowledged that they will be paying the higher SBS price either now or when their contracts come up for renewal, sources indicated.
