Demand solid as customers grade shift to reduce costs

US supercalendered paper (SC) markets remained strong in May as cost-conscious retail customers continued to turn to lower priced grades. Demand for uncoated mechanical in US paper grew 6.1% in the first quarter largely because of catalogs, magazines, and inserts shifting away from lightweight coated (LWC) papers.
