Smurfit-Stone completing major restructuring of its white top liner mill system

Smurfit-Stone Container is completing a major restructuring of its white-top liner-board mill production system. The company since last year has been ramping up production of white-top on the 300,000 tons/yr machine No. 2 at its West Point, VA, mill and hopes to reach full production by the end of the first quarter of 2009. This will require some capital spending to reconfigure the pulping system, according to a company executive. The mill already produces 375,000 tons/yr on its dedicated white top PM 3.
