G-P to buy Brewton mill from SSCC for 355 million

Smurfit-Stone Container reached a definitive agreement to sell its Brewton,AL,white top linerboard and bleached board mill to Georgia-Pacific(G-P)for about 355 million,the companies said last week.The deal,which was widely rumored in the industry,is scheduled for completion by the end of September(P&PW,Aug.6,p.9).The two-machine mill has capacity to produce 303,000 tons/yr of white top linerboard and 187,000 tons/yr of folding carton grade solid bleached sulfate(SBS).
