Citing high costs for wood,energy,and chemicals,Fraser Papers will permanently close its 230,000 mtpy northern bleached hardwood kraft market pulp mill in Berlin,N.H.-the latest closure to hit the North American industry and likely not the last,contacts said last week.The Berlin mill will shut Mar.6 and allow Fraser Papers to reduce its exposure to market pulp by partly integrating its remaining NBHK mill,the 245,000 mtpy facility in Thurso,Que.
