Concern that the softening North American newsprint market would be weakened further by the imminent startup of Port Hawkesbury's 195,000 mtpy newsprint machine eased somewhat last week after Stora Enso said PM 1 would make uncoated mechanical specialties as well as newsprint when it restarts.Stora Enso resumed supercalendered paper production at Port Hawkesbury Sept.29 after a 10-month shutdown.A company official said last week the startup of PM 2 had exceeded expectations and the PM 2 was"pretty well at full capacity"making all grades and basis weights of SuperiorPress and MagniPress.
